Support for Kin Caregivers of Children of Incarcerated Mothers
"Kinship care is the full time care, nurturing and protection of children by relatives, members of their tribes or clans, godparents, stepparents, or any adult who has a kinship bond with a child. This definition is designed to be inclusive and respectful of cultural values and ties of affection. It allows a child to grow to adulthood in a family environment."
We understand that being a kin caregiver for children with incarcerated mother can present numerous challenges. From limited financial resources to health issues, lack of support services, and the emotional impact of the child's separation from their parent, we recognize the difficulties you may face on a daily basis.
Balancing caregiving responsibilities with your own well-being can be particularly demanding, especially when financial difficulties come into play. We understand the importance of providing support in this aspect, which is why our kinship navigator program is designed to help facilitate linkages with local resources. Additionally, we offer direct services to assist you in any way we can.
We would like to highlight two instrumental outreach projects that we have in place to provide financial support to kin caregivers like yourself. Our Back to School Event ensures that children have the necessary supplies for a successful academic year, while our $100 for 100 Kids Holiday shopping Event aims to make the holiday season easier for kids of incarcerated parents, avoiding disappointment and reducing stress.
We genuinely care about your well-being and the well-being of the children you care for. Our goal is to provide the support and resources you need to navigate through these challenging circumstances. If there is anything specific you require assistance with, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
We appreciate your trust and look forward to continuing to serve you.
